OGO-Law, The Greenbrief Advocates Wins Two Prestigious Honours at the 3rd Annual Legal Era Africa Law Awards 2025–26

OGO-Law, The Greenbrief Advocates is proud to announce that it has been recognised with two prestigious honours at the 3rd Annual Legal Era Africa Law Awards 2025–26, held on 26 June 2026 at The Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The firm was named Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Boutique Law Firm of the Year, while our Managing Partner, Elizabeth Gitari-Mitaru, received the distinguished Leading Environmental Lawyer of the Year award. Receiving both institutional and individual recognition at one of Africa’s premier legal awards underscores OGO-Law’s position as a leading force in environmental, energy, and natural resources law across the continent.

Since its establishment in 2017, OGO-Law has pursued a clear mission: to provide legal solutions that protect the environment, promote responsible natural resource governance, and support sustainable development in Kenya and across Africa. Over the past decade, the firm has advised governments, private sector clients, development partners, conservation organisations, and communities on some of the region’s most complex environmental and natural resources matters, helping shape legal and policy frameworks that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.

These awards are a recognition of that journey and of the impact created through years of dedicated legal advocacy. They also reflect the confidence our clients and partners have placed in us to navigate evolving environmental regulations, climate-related legal challenges, energy transition initiatives, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable investment across Africa.

Speaking after receiving the award, Managing Partner Elizabeth Gitari-Mitaru reflected on the significance of the recognition:

“This recognition reflects the growing sophistication and ambition of environmental and natural resources law practice across East Africa. We have always believed that rigorous legal advocacy is one of the most powerful tools available to protect our environment and shape equitable energy and resources policy. To be recognised at a pan-African level affirms that the work being done here in Nairobi is resonating far beyond our borders.”

Organised annually by Legal Era Magazine, the Legal Era Africa Law Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and leadership within the legal profession across the continent. The awards recognise outstanding law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal practitioners who demonstrate exceptional expertise, client service, innovation, and contribution to the legal profession. Winners are selected through an independent judging process involving respected leaders from the legal and business communities.

For OGO-Law, this achievement represents more than industry recognition. It reflects the collective efforts of every client, partner, colleague, and community that has entrusted the firm with matters that shape the future of Africa’s environment and natural resources. Every instruction received, every policy influenced, every dispute resolved, and every project supported has contributed to building a practice founded on excellence, integrity, and purpose.

As environmental regulation continues to evolve and the continent accelerates its transition towards sustainable development, demand for strategic legal guidance has never been greater. OGO-Law remains committed to helping clients navigate this changing landscape by delivering practical, forward-looking legal solutions that create lasting environmental, social, and economic value.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our clients, partners, collaborators, and friends for their continued trust and support. Your confidence has enabled us to grow into a firm recognised not only in Kenya but across Africa for excellence in environmental and natural resources law.

These awards inspire us to continue raising the standard of legal practice, championing sustainable development, and contributing to a future where strong legal institutions support resilient communities, responsible businesses, and a healthy environment.

This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey. We are honoured by this milestone and look forward to continuing the work that matters most, for our clients, for our communities, and for the future of Africa.
