Lets talk littering Green Advocates!
One thing battling and getting to my nerves lately is, why would someone trash a plastic bottle beside a busy pedestrian walkway. The art of cleanliness is ‘posed to illuminate our Green City in the Sun? It’s unfathomable!
On one occasion, I had to intercept a busy Nairobian who casually dumped a blackcurrant fanta bottle in the dwindling flower array at the Moi Avenue, which is basically the heart of the city, in pursuit of my self appointed stewardship duty. Determined, right? I’d literally hand a bag of sweets to anyone I spot dumping an after-package in the strategically placed bins in the Nairobi Central Business District. I mean, is it hard to shove the used package or bottle in the carry bag and dump it in the nearest bin afterwards? It doesn’t add to your weight luggage, just a light package after your satisfied drinking or munching.
Walking and working in Karen community, the situation is no different. A sight of clogged drainages with floating plastic bottles was not my expectation in `1the leafy suburbs. But alas! Same situation, different environment. Remember, we are all custodians of our environment but it seems like you all left the chat, but I stayed.
Summarily, I’m here to remind you that spectacular sceneries we experience everyday are owed to coming generation. No gatekeeping over here. How about, we all aspire to keep our environment clean and green? It’s that simple and easy. Purchase a bottle of your favourite drink, re-use it at the milk container or dump it at your nearest bin.. We smell and walk different frm animals in the jungle? How about a little assertion to that? We are all here to fulfill an objective of bringing meaning to our lives. While at that, let’s all commit to keeping our environment habitable and sustaining. Kidole kimoja hakivunji chawa, sindio? Our collective responsibility is becking. Let’s pick that call and do our custom duty to maintain our environment in a bespoke nature.
Remember, care to remind that one soul!
